It is Editor's request. I have a partial sequence of the CP gene of a virus but he rightly said i need a complete sequence of the CP gene to support my claim. He however asked me to develop sequence data covering the complete CP gene. This I dont know if it is possible using bioinformatics.

I think it is quite hard to produce a complete gene sequence based on a partial gene sequence information, as you do not have a template or anything to refer to fill in the gap to uncover the complete genomic information. You can try to negotiate with the editor or worse come to worst, re-do your experiment.. Good luck!

No, it is not possible through bioinformatics approach. You should continue with the wetlab work to get the full length sequence
