As you can see in my previous question(in the following link) some of the researchers recommend me to use MIKE SHE model in my PHD Thesis for assessing the impacts of Climate Change and Land use changes on hydrologic changes. But some researcher said that I should have access to the model source code for a PHD Thesis.
I contacted DHI and they told me you can access a student License for your thesis.
I think I will not need the model source code. But if I have to customize this model can you consult me, is it possible to ask DHI for MIKE SHE source code for a student license?

Because this is a commercial model, DHI does not allow users to obtain and modify source code (not even for students). However, you may be able to work with their developers directly to get exactly what you will need. You should contact them.
From what you have mentioned of the topic, there doesn't seem to be a need to make any modifications. The software can probably handle a long-term simulation with changing climate and landuse. If your professors are concerned about the reliability of the model's calculations, there are plenty of publications out there which will justify it's capabilities.
As for your topic, I think this would be very interesting. You could modify the land use parameters over time using Leaf Area Index and Root Depth.

I would say it's impossible, since by giving you the source code they are opening up the advantages they have to someone not belonging to the company. The software is proprietary, and I could imagine that even somebody in the company who is working on the source code development would have to sign formal documents to protect the security of the source code before they can have access to the code.
