Is it possible that some positive charged secreted proteins bind and cover the surface of invading pathogen (bacterium or fungi) to limit its growth? Any examples?
Antimicrobial peptides, although not proteins, are secreted substances that interfere with bacterial pathogens. They usually contain multiple positively charged residues.
Thanks Adam. It might be a too big issue. I am working on one such protein, a basic plant PR1, which is positive charged but reported to interact with neutral lipids. Today, and its conformation looks changed by glycerol .
