Hi,

I have identified an antiviral compound that showed antiviral activity against feline coronavirus. Now, I am trying to figure out its antiviral mechanisms.

First, I try to figure out which stage it might inhibit using a Time-of-addition assay My data showed that this compound inhibited the virus infection in the early stage, as the antiviral activity became less effective when added at 6 hours after virus inoculation.

I assumed that this compound might act on either virus entry or genomic replication. However, the result showed that there was no inhibition effect on the pseudo-type virus or replicon. These data seem contradictory with my Time-of-addition assay.

Now I am very confused. Is it possible that an antiviral compound inhibited the virus infection but did not inhibit the pseudotype-virus and replicon?

I will be grateful if someone could give me some suggestions.

Looking forward to your reply.
