I want to make sure that the freezing/thawing does not significantly affect the yield or quality of the extracted RNA. They would be frozen for at most a few months.
I agree with the answers given above. Just a pointer that you need to work relatively quickly once you thaw the cell samples. I have seen a difference in RNA quality, when I minimize time spent in the initial steps (like homogenization etc - if needed) especially when working with frozen samples.
