I am doing a  contact analysis with fasteners in a bolted assembly which has more than 600+ fasteners, have nearly 50 parts and 500+ instances. So I model the fasteners as discrete rigid and then applied general contact with friction 0.5.

Is it necessary to have node connectivity in between every two parts.

As per basic concepts of Finite Element analysis [ BT][D][B]=[f]

for the assembly of the stiffness matrix we should have common nodes which is transferring the load to another part, as per my reviewer.

Is it necessary to have such connectivity? because in that case I have to make so many partitions in my part as well as my assembly.

Please help
