Some researcher add transliteration of foreign words and sentences which take to much space in thesis writing. Is transliteration really necessary ?
If you are writing your thesis in English, I think it's a good idea to add transliterations of anything written in Arabic, or any other non-romanised script. It's my guess that Arabic is not so widely known outside the Middle East, or in Western countries at least.
Although transliteration of non English sentences may make a given thesis bulky, it is a necessary requirement since many of the intended audiences may not be familiar with the non English language. As such, transliteration is an appropriate technique in creating a more transparent and meaningful text especially when the thesis is likely to benefit an international audience.
Not always but the Sentences containing any saying or proverb which is having any specific cultural or traditional background must be transliterated otherwise it will give different meaning or concepts.

However, all the verbs and words are provided with transliteration.
Transliteration can be important in certain context, for example, if you are writing about Arabic phonetics, stemming, morphological analysis...etc
so it depends on the context. But translation can be sufficient.
Depends on the regulation in your institution. I submitted my thesis (University of Cambridge) with quotes in Arabic, without the need to add dedicated translation or transliteration. However, I added a note at the end of the Introduction stating that I got a permission to do that. I didn't know it at the time, but both my examiners were native Arabic speakers. Nevertheless, the discussion that followed the quotes provided translation and transliteration of specific words and sentences.
You might need to translate and/or transliterate if you want to publish your thesis.
Yes, definitely depends on the common practice in your field or institution.I would recommend a transliteration though if you have non-Arabic speaking examiners. It would seem a bit alienating to add words in Arabic without providing an insight of how they are pronounced, specially if you are discussing meaning or phonatical connotation.

I have added transliteration to words only.
As for long sentences I added only English translation.
One of my supervisors said that there is no need to put transliteration to sentences.
However, I need a strong argument to defend myself in viva.
