Ok - I am conducting a research about ethical behaviour in the workplace , i have independent variables as organizational factors , cultural factors that affect the dependent variable - Ethical Behaviour-
Main question - what are the factors that affect ethical behaviour in the workplace. Is it important to conduct factor analysis in the quantitative approach.
Waleed - First of all you need to see whether your research is qualitative or quantitative in nature. It seem from your explanation that you are dealing with qualitative variables like ethical behavior, culture etc. I think that there is no problem in conducting factor analysis in the quantitative approach. Factor analysis is a technique that is used to reduce a large number of variables into fewer numbers of factors. This technique extracts maximum common variance from all variables and puts them into a common score. As an index of all variables, we can use this score for further analysis. Factor analysis technique strives to explain correlations among multiple outcomes as the result of one or more underlying explanations, or factors. The technique involves data reduction, as it attempts to represent a set of variables by a smaller number.
Organisational factors, cultural factors and ethical behaviour are all variables that cannot be measured. How will you measure cultural factors or organizational factors in relation to ethical behaviour. I believe your research in this case will bring out better results with a qualitative approach methods and analysis.
Dear Waleed Fraij, It seems that you want to use questionnaire for measuring cultural and organizational factors, So I think you can use factor analysis.
