Hi all,

I measured mood using PANAS at baseline (t1), after mood induction (t2) and after music listening (t3). attention during music listening was measured objectively using EEG.

I want to know what is the influence of t2 on attention (part 1) and how change in attention affects the t3 when controlling for t2.

Either two separate LR could be done or a single mediation analysis.

Which is correct?

Can attention scores be a mediator with IV= mood scores at t2 and DV = mood scores at t3?

Few more queries :

1. according to Valente and Mackinnon, mediator should be measured at two time points, i measured attention once. also at t2 the mood scores changed significantly, hence mood scores at t2 could not be a pretest score in a stricter sense (just my thoughts though).

2. using linear regression: t2 predicted attention scores, attention scores predicted t3, proving attention might be mediator.

Thanks.
