I have used MWCNT based nanoadsorbent in order to remove cadmium and nickel from aqueous solution, in isotherm analysis for single component adsorption,freundlich had the highest consistency with the data while for Nickel langmuir fitted well. Is it possible to have this result? I am confused because the adsorbent is the same for both metal ions but the behavior predicted by isotherms is different. Would you please help me with that?
It is really common for adsorbent to have fitted with 2 different models such as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.
I believe It is strictly related to adsorbent behavior in different conditions. Maybe you may have some more experiments in some more different concentration range of each metal/adsorbate.
As you know Freundlich isotherm is much better fitted in low and medium concentrations of adsorbate. Freundlich isotherm assumes unlimited sorption sites which implies the heterogeneous surface of adsorbant. However, Langmuir model adsorption is monolayer and homogeneous.

Adsorption process depends on both adsorbate and adsorbent. So, the result you are getting is quit possible.
Your question is about vague, if you have two pollutant it is possible to have different fitted model for one, but if your mean is that to have two isotherm for one pollutant it is not possible!!!
you should attention to data Log of fitted model for best selection.
Yes it is possible, if the R2 of them would be one, but at otherwise you should use the isotherm which is higher to discussion.
Best isotherm is jugged on the basis of R2 values. But remember in the case of Langmuir isotherm its slope value should also close to unity.
