If by "science" you mean a systematic and coherent body of knowledge, then many indigenous knowledge systems would qualify as science. But if by "science" you mean a body of findings discovered through or corroborated by the scientific method, then very few indigenous knowledge systems would qualify as science.

Dear brother Dr.Dickson,

Thank you very much for your humanitarian question, personally, I considered the indigenous knowledge of local people as the simple basis of a science, and the best example as I see, is the herbal medicine, some kind of magnetic healing treatment systems, ..etc. It is so impossible to size science in a limited boundaries but it expands towards all direction in a three dimensional coordinates, so my answer is YES.

A straightforward answer to your question should be "NO"  - because only "A rigorous (scientific) analysis" can prove or reject the findings of  indigenous people.

Indigenous knowledge becomes science when it experiments individual subjects overtime, test and re-test, form hypothesis, theoris, laws or principles.

I agree with Prof Vladimirov , science is about evidence , unless it falls under this bracket , I don't think it is validated .

Yes off course. The only problem is that those technology are not scientifically tested. It is our duty to identify those innovators and reward them. They are better than what we are doing in laboratory. 

Many local facts are part of science many other may not be. Otherwise progress would not have occurred. Knowledge of local herbs agriculture building design and other decisions as per environment conditions are part of science. 100 years back flour from grains was performed using water Mill. See accuracy of 1000 years old buildings it was undocumented science.

Adom, I agree with you, the problem with some communities is lack of support from academics. They are not empathetic with local communities/societies knowledge of what they experienced.
