I have been looking for a couple of journal policies. Many journals are Preprint friendly; however, many are not. Recently, I uploaded a Preprint and later uploaded a paper to a Journal. When they checked the plagiarism, it showed a higher percentage of similarity index as it was compared with our own Preprint. Finally, the journal rejected the paper. Therefore, would you please advise about the pros and corns of the Preprints?

For the current paper, delete the preprint and wait for two months and resend the same article to another journal.

Rahul Pandya personally I'm strictly against uploading preprints before the actual manuscript has been accepted by a journal. You have experienced by yourself what problems this can cause. I know that in mathematics preprints play an important role, but in our field of research (chemistry) they are not important. I would stay away from uploading preprints at all.
@Rahul Pandya I am personally not in favour of uploading a preprint until it is accepted in a journal for publication. You have already experienced the technical error. If the purpose of preprint is to safeguard your professional interest at the earliest, there are many ways including publishing the gist of the ensuing paper in the Newsletter, Institute's Annual Report, etc. I have personally experienced significant difference in original submission and accepted final version of the MS for a high quality journal.

I think researchers upload their preprint (in medRxiv arxiv) in order to protect their work before publication. Some cases, the submited work contains sensitive data or there are competing laboratories working on the same subject, etc.
Rahul Pandya I am also against preprint until a paper is accepted for publication. As the preprint is out, I think even when it is rejected, it will be hard to submit it to another journal. I don't see any need of preprint. The whole process of reviewing the paper should be confidential. There should be other ways to protect your work. Some say if you upload it you will get comments from readers but many just read and do not comment.
Ouaïl Ouchetto I can easily imagine that preprints also play a more important role in medical sciences. Particularly the competition in coronavirus-related research is certainly very tough.

Preprint is just a hoax. Publish your paper in quality journals; dont get trapped in preprints catch.
