Reflectance spectra are performed on the plane surface of a compact glass powder disk (5 mm thickness). The glass particles can range from 20 to 100 micrometers. The instrument is a portable spectrometer with integration sphere and illuminant D65 at 8 °.

But in general it could be correct to use Kubelka Munk Function but with some modifications as it is suggested in the previous paper.

I think, the formula will work as long as the net transmittance for your sample is negligible. Reflectance and absorbance should alone be the noteworthy parameters.
