Hello friends.

As per the high cycle fatigue theory, as the stress increases, the fatigue life decreases drastically and this correlates well with the S-N curve obtained from testing. However, if we consider two different specimen of the same material with two different stress concentration factors but the same peak concentrated stress (of course the nominal stresses would be different), the fatigue life is not the same. Does it mean that the same fatigue theory which works well in absence of stress concentration is not valid in its presence? Hope to learn more. Thanks in advance.
