We go to school, to university, choose a profession for some reason. What is this reason (I mean the reason to receive, memorize and use later the knowledge) truly? Seems to me it is herd instinct. I would grateful if you comment it
I think all we need strongly an interlocutor, a company, a friend, people in every our business, like a job, doing science, etc.
Herd instinct is not really an instinct but a motivational drive shared by other primates to be accepted in social circles. I believe each individual is motivated, in part, by this factor; however, there are a multitude of differences. For example, you might sign-up for a course because it is a requirement for a degree and a long-term goal/job that you want or you may sign-up because your friends or a potential relationship may be also signing up. To understand the science, qualitative studies are needed. The research questions needs to be clearly defined.
I thought that some psychologists did this job :). Are any publication at the subject?
