Currently we are working on a system having solid particles. In order to see what minimum velocity is required to prevent the solids from settling in the horizontal pipeline, we are modelling the system in CFD. However, to start with the modelling, we need to provide some saltation velocity or minimum conveying velocity to avoid particels settling. We have looked into different models like Rizk model, Matsumoto model, Geldart model etc. As all these models take air as the basis fluid with different solids, can we use these models with liquid-solid system too?
