Yes, it should mechanically crushed. I can't found any research about this subject. There is lack of information and refrences.

Saba Etemadifar I was using some very fine fractions of perlite powder in polymer concrete with vinyl ester matrix. You cannot use too much of it though because of the very developed specific surface area of crushed perlite particles that deteriorates the workability of the polymer mix. I can send you some of my papers, maybe it would help you.
