I don't want to ruin my chances with a publisher later if I share my work in progress on this site. Does anyone know how academic publishers view that sort of thing?
They frown on it. I've even heard of a journal rejection of a paper BECAUSE it had been pre-printed. The author stood accused of self-plaigiaism! Be careful.
Some publishers may have guidance regarding these concerns on their website, e.g. Taylor & Francis: https://authorservices.taylorandfrancis.com/sharing-your-work/
If the specific publisher you are considering does not make their stance clear online, I'd err on the site of caution and not share it in advance (or contact the publisher directly and ask them for their position on the issue).
