Hello, I am in my first year of PhD and I am undertaking a study on language barriers in criminal courts in France and while I have an LL.M, I do not have a sound base in Translation Theories. I feel Dialogue Interpreting fits best in my study on the voice of the accused and how it is carried from him to the rest of the court by the interpreter but I do not know what place this theory has in the Translation world and whether what I am looking at is an established theory.
My second question is whether this theory works for all kinds of interpreting or only consecutive interpreting because I seem to have read somewhere that it is not certain whether this theory can be applied to simultaneous interpreting.
I would be grateful for any comments, explanations or reading references. Thank you.
