I have established tumors in mice using fulvestrant-resistant breast cancer cells. These mice also have estradiol pellets inserted under the skin. Some of the mice have thicker/cloudier urine that stains it fur coat. Has anyone seen anything like this? Please see the attached video.
Thank you for your suggestion Wolfgang. I am sending the bladder to H&E staining and hopefully if there's any infection we should be able to see that. I started the mice on Baytril and they are doing much better. Thank you.
Henriette Uwimpuhwe Balinda , testing urine for nitrite also should do the job, might be done with a simple color reaaction, by adding a little naphthylamine (most other aromatic amines should do, too) and a tiny amount of hydrochloric or sulphuric acid.
Most urine test sticks do contain a detection zone for nitrite, too.
