My current studies focus on pre- and post-license driving ability, including driver education curriculums, driving testing, and a bit about traffic psychology.
I have never researched ergonomics in driver training, so your answer is a very interesting suggestion for me.
From an intercultural point of view, you might want to explore aspects as highlighted in the film "You drive me crazy" by Andrea Thiele & Lia Jaspers, in which three people have to get their driving licence in different (foreign) countries (Mirella, German, in Mumbai, India; Jake, US-American, in Tokyo, Japan; and Hye-Won, Korean, in Munich, Germany), a very entertaining "docu-soap" with deep insights into different cultural practices describing driving school and training as an initiation / acculturation to the respective culture. Excellent film!
