I have been researching/reviewing various theories, modalities, and concepts for my dissertation - the study will be a phenomenological qualitative research study, exploring the 'lived or subjective' experiences of women who self-identify themselves as being resilient adult daughters of alcoholic fathers. The following concepts will be covered in my literature review: resiliency, Posttraumatic Growth (PTG), alcoholism in the family, adult daughters of alcoholics/fathers, methods of coping (skills, modes, types, techniques etc.), 'self-compassion' (which is why I am interested in finding out more information on 'compassion-focused therapy'), protective/risk factors, & trauma etc. I am in the process of pinning down a theoretical framework, and as of now am interested in Adlerian theory & Reality Theory/Therapy (to name a few); however, I became intrigued when I came across this branch of therapy (modality) while doing research on self-compassion. Any and all answers or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
