I would like to know if there are any relatively recent works using the concept of Learning Set (Harlow, 1949) or learning to learn. Specially experimental ones and possibly with non-human animals. Thanks!
I think that although Harlow's experiments at the time made an unquestionable contribution to the importance of a family reference system in early childhood, the ethical conditions of its realization constitute a serious problem to be replicated. In spite of this other researchers have used these studies as antecedent for other proposals and I think concretely in the theory of the security of Ainsworth
Thans for sharing your concerns. I think you are talking about the attchment or love experiment where Harlow approached animal attachment with young chimps. What I am asking about is about his learning set or learning to learn experiments. As far as I am aware, the procedures and possible ethical concerns are much more adequate and even ajusted by further experiments during 1950's, 1960's and 1970's.
So my question is mostly about what happened to this line of research during the past decades.
