i want to design a printed log periodic dipole array antenna with cpw feed using CST. If any one working on this please help me how to design. i mean i want procedure and formulas. i saw a paper in that there is a via hole which is used to connect upper middle layer and lower feed. what is the use of using via and how it was created? please help me

Few other options,
a) you can calculate directly IMPEDANCE by using CST Macro->>>CST>> Macros>> Calculate >> Analytical Impedance>>CPW/GCPW.

In general, shorting vias are used to reduce the ‘Inductance Effect’, vias connecting the top and bottom copper plane of structure, act as “PARALLEL COMBINATION OF INDUCTORS”, Thus, as you increase the number of such vias, due to parallel combination, the effective value of inductance approaches minimum. So, this you can reduce parasitic reactance.
You can design such via like Plating-through-holes, as people do in SIW.

I would say that with the CST Antenna Magys you can very easily design a logoperiodic antenna, just indicate the frequency at which you want to work and a few more details.
I don't know if you dispose of this program, but as I know there is a free academic version that will surely help you.

you may also do a literature search on this subject via IEEE explore..you always get the abstracts but in general not the papers unless you institute has a subscription
