In the following link https://physics.info/photoelectric/, the stopping potential for a photoemissive surface is measured by charging the collecting plate to a negative potential. Would it be equivalent to charge the emissive surface to a positive potential of the same magnitude as the stopping potential? For context, I am writing Particle in Cell code for photoemission, and need to test if emitted photoelectrons have enough kinetic energy to escape a positively charged spacecraft surface.
