I want to develop an interview guide for in-depth interviews with religious scholars (Islamic perspective), teachers, parents, child psychologists & Non Government Organization's workers on the issue of Corporal Punishment practiced in Schools in Pakistan, Can anyone guide me?
Since it is a political issue, I recommend using the 3-way technique. Where you recover on the one hand, you recover the direct view of the subject; on the other, you regain your feeling about themselves or other people's experiences; and finally, as you regain react to hypothetical events where it involves the them to act or make decisions.
Thus they have a broad spectrum in order to form a more complete and consistent vision, eliminating the political factor.
You can formulate a number of general and specific questions and pilot them within the various groups that you wish to interview. From the feedback, you can re-craft sensitive questions and get a feel for what may or may not work and re-pilot the revised questions. It will also be important to let persons know that you intend to use aggregate data and to maintain anonymity of those interviewed. This may help to ensure that you receive “honest” responses rather than socially desirable answers.
