Greetings everyone,

How we calculate the inoculum size for mutans streptococci (Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus) bacteria?

I want to know the correct concentration dilutions (cfu/ml) from a 0.5 McFarland preparation of these bacteria.

My problem is; How much my inoculum concentration should be (in cfu/ml), if I want to add 2 ml of this inoculum to 2 ml of the antimicrobial/broth dilutions to get a total of 4 ml with the recommended (5 x 10^5 cfu/ml)?

It seems that there are differences in the studies on the dilution ranges and size of the inoculum for these microorganisms.

Appreciate your kind reply.
