I'm working with a case where there is high risk of wastewater contamination to a lake that is raw water source for a treatment plant. Close to the raw water intake there are two wastewater pipes (pressurized) lying on on the seabed about 50 m from the raw water intake. We are concerned that a leak in the wastewater pipes will reach the raw water inlet.
What is the best parameter(s) that can be monitored on-line and is a good indicator of wastewater contamination? Will ammonia be a good indicator? It can be measured on-line with an Ion Selective Electrode.
