Hi there,
I am modeling a residential house located in cold climate with several different wall systems. One problem I found is that with the increase of wall R-value, the annual heating energy does decrease, however the cooling energy is different. For example, all cases I created have higher R-value than the benchmark house , but for some of them the cooling energy is higher than the benchmark house and others have lower cooling energy than the benchmark, showing no tendency. I'm thinking if this is due to the thermal mass of the wall but still not clear, could you give some suggestions? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Ray
