This is a left parasternal short axis view at the level of aortic valve and pulmonary artery in a 29 years full term pregnant female, she was asymptomatic, no abnormality detected on auscultation, echo was indicated before CS.
In your opinion, what this flow stands for ?
The cardiac output increase during the pregnancy,and modifies the blood flow and could be appear innocent murmur, that disappear after the childbirth
It is a low velocity venous flow directed towards transducer. Left vertical vein or an off axis innominate flow can give similar appearance.
It is a low velocity continuous flow probably of venous origin due to hyperkinetic state.It is probably infront of RVOT. Apart from vertical vein...it could be azygous or hemiazygous vein..thanks
I agree with that. One has to think of a superiorly directed venous flow probably exaggerated due to the hyperkinetic state of pregnancy
I agree with them probable cause of this ,is a normal adaptive hemodynamic changes in pregnancy.
please consider to follow up with patient clinically and electrocardiography can be done for the review
