I'm certainly agree with the environmental viewpoint but I consider that the most important issue now should be reflection, self critic, forgiveness and compassion; not only to the Earth but to human race ... we are supposed to be the "thinking beings"... Love should be our conclusion...
Environmental quality has improved significantly worldwide and one more thing in most of the countries we don't have enough stored to feel the huge population....points to ponder
Many negative aspects of COVID 19 are observed/faced.But one postie aspect is to reduce environmental pollution in the Globe. That is also happened only because of lock down.
I agree that nature is recovering from the pollution. We all see that in the weather, almost instant recovery. We had 5 months of fog, now reduced to the odd day. Nice to see the sun again!
It points out that the Ethics of Care (EOC) is very valid and that what affects one affects all. We are all linked one way or the other. Indeed to overcome the pandemic its has to be a global effort.
Hi Laura, Thanks for raising a wonderful issue. What I think - mother nature has hugely been benefited, no doubt. The ecosystems, biosphere and the enormous biodiversity (excluding Homo sapience) of the planet earth are much better than the pre-pandemic time. Nonetheless, the nature and peace loving people hope and their earnest prayer is as the pandemic dies down, the nations and their myopic leaders will be more eco-friendly, pro-conservation and protection and economical in spending natural resources. Thanks.
I feel that value of nature before human being is realised now more than ever. One should protect nature and environment for the betterment of all living and non living things in our World.
I also feel that defence budgets across World are no meaning. Budget on health is more important.
I think this pandemic will divide our modern history into Pre and Post Covid eras. I hope this pandemic could reduce our inner pollution to a great extend and hence there will be a considerable positive impact on our external environment which is only a reflection of our own inner state. It also taught us many important lessons on value of many things which we have conveniently neglected, or kept a blind eye.
Many of our theories of Complexities and complications are proven meaningless or out dated as it appears universe is as simple as a gentle breath...
You are asking a very good question, Laura. In your explanations you already have an element of answer which concerns pollution. I offer other answers in the following article:
Coronavirus symptoms develop in 2-14 days. The most common are those of the flu or a bad cold: fever, fatigue, cough, and difficulty breathing. Some people also experience pain, congestion, a runny nose, sore throat, or have diarrhea. You may have coronavirus and only have mild symptoms.
No alcohol or chlorine on fabrics !
On its website, the World Health Organization (WHO) stresses that spraying alcohol or chlorine on the body and tissues will not kill the new coronavirus. And could even prove to be dangerous. "Spraying these substances can be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes," warns the world body, stressing however that these two products can "be useful for disinfecting surfaces".
The most important and positive aspect, is that people can refresh again, rearrange their priorities , improve their virtual management skills, and especially decreasing the stress on the Environment due to lockdown of the most activities that using to much energy.
I think the threat is a global one not limited to a country or a region. that mean every body feels the fear and know that the disease may threaten his survival, therefore, all contries take measure or a step to control and contain the disease.
I agree that the reduction of pollution is one of the positive aspects of this pandemic. However, I am afraid that oil prices and the economic recession trigger the use of cheap energy sources, which are more contaminant.
Raising the awareness with the proper way to live a healthy life, with increased attention to infectious diseases, personal hygiene, social habits, and at last but not least family gathering
That many countries and states have learned, that they were not prepared for fighting such epidemics and pandemics and hopefully they improve their protection systems for the future.
Revolutionization of all health sectors and associated practices in each and every country. All countries will open up for innovations and upgrading health facilities to sustainably contain any form of eventuality.
