What is your view on toxicology after being in the field? What principles do you see as the most important?
Types, concentration and duration of toxins exposure and availability of a suitable antidote are several important toxicological principles.
- To clearly identify the molecular target(s) of a toxin.
- To define the dose response relationships with respect to different endpoints.
- To recognize long-term effects of compounds.
- To define effects (additive, synergistic) of chemicals in mixtures (binary and more complex)
- To recognize variability in response to toxins influenced by the genotype.
