I think the digital textbook is an important additional resource to the printed book for enabling portability and choices for the student.

I think we can benefit from both digital and printed books. Some books seem to connect better with the students in paper and some book are just much more effective as digital texts.
In India and in the world, communication in education is transforming from paper to paperless system. In India, in most of the educational institutions, there are many digital libraries. Any person concerned can go there and can download a text book of his choice and can read under licence. Since to learn a particular topic a person has to refer two or more text books, if the internet facility is available and in digital library, a person can download materials from different text books read, understand, analyze and prepare uniquely.
In Brazil, only teachers use digital textbooks in National Textbook Program supported by Government.
Almost all the countries are going for digitalization and this becomes easier. Each teacher is giving assignments and the student has to refer the text books from internet, study and answer. Now a days, a particular topic is not confined to single text book. In India text books from internet are followed.
