It differs according to political view due to the historic & political interests of each different country. Politics of history depend on each country's self comments mainly !? Almost all history of any war is written by the winner side of that war !
In its simplest form, History is - 'his-story' as told by the dominate forces within a given society (I suppose Marx would claim, those who own the means of production). As such, the aim of political history is to tell one's historical story in ways that maintain and perpetuate the established status quo. The effects, of course, are far-reaching and damaging to all, as it prevents critical reflection and critical histories from being told. It succeeds in this by utilizing the mass-media to promote and reaffirm acceptable narratives whilst disparaging opposing views (Creates the, 'them against us' dichotomy). Then, it legitimatizes a militarized, police-state to enforce its dictates. This, of course, is harmful to all. Why? How? Firstly, it hides a class-struggle (creating an illusion of democracy) that ensures that society is stratified in a way that maintains few at the top and many at the bottom. Secondly, it hinders us from maximizing our full human potential, making it difficult, if not impossible, to come up with real solutions to real problems that we face as a global community. Why? because the outdated, narratives serve only to recycle his-stories that are being peddled. For example, I often ask teachers, when visiting America, are you still teaching students that Chrsitopher Columbus discovered America?
Since history focuses on past, present and future events, eventually those who are in power would influence what to include in text books. This means means users of books across years would have different history as they live and study at different regimes, thus, curriculum professionals to include editors, writers and close stakeholders would deliberately agreed to genuine historical events that existed be part of history textbooks to entire generation of the community.
