I will soon be investigating the ways in which prejudice towards gay men manifests in ostensibly 'positive' ways as well as the negative ways many are familiar with. I have a preliminary theoretical framework and I am looking to use focus groups to gather some primary data from a heterosexual sample in order to develop the theory further. However, I don't imagine participants will be especially forthcoming about their views and I wondered if there were papers where certain exercises were used to help the facilitator more readily elicit these responses.

As an indication of the kind of things I'm looking for, I'm currently reading a paper that used vignettes and interpreting statistics to investigate non-suicidal self-injury (Borrill, Lorenz, & Abbasnejad, 2012).

Thanks!
