Many scientific articles use various expressions to describe a meaningful learning contexts (i.e. authentic learning, contextualized learning, real-world learning). Therefore, I want to conduct a meta-synthesis to better understand what kind of learning contexts are described by these expressions in articles about science education.
I think a meaningul learning context is one that relates to students prior reading/experiences/societal or global issue. If the learning is situated within these latter contexts then it becomes meaningful for the student.

Learning context is a situation in which a learner receives information from the teacher through specific teaching-learning activities. Now, these teaching-learning activities will be different based on the learning situation which can vary from a teacher centered (externally guided) approach to a student centered (internally guided) one. A teacher who can identify the most appropriate teaching-learning method can make the learning meaningful to students.
I think that learning is meaningful when it is related to the reality of the learner and its relevance to societal and scientific issues
