The Context: Attrition in the tertiary education sector in Oman is of great concern to the policy planners and education professionals alike. This project brings together international experts, Omani undergraduate students, and cutting-edge computerized language and other assessment tools to identify specific difficulties that Omani youth experience in transitioning from school education to university education; we seek to identify the bases of the plethora of youth dropping out midway before completion of their studies. Through the use of socio-cultural models of classroom language acquisition and PYD models adopted in different parts of the world, strategies for an improved Oman-wide management of attrition issues through an evidence-based design of a PYD program will be proposed.
Positive youth development in the context of Middle East is of utmost importance and Dr Robyn's website offers an exciting way to integrate the thought process in developing a model for Middle East as well as other regions where this type of work has not been carried out yet.
Prof Robyn suggested me that we should look at the UNESCO centre at the National University of Ireland and at the Resilience Research Centre at the University of Dalhousie, they are working on PYD modelling. At rsik students are the classic case of PYD implementation and we need to carry vertical research.

we can try for some funding for this lateral study of PYD at European commission because there is some funding opportunity for GULF -European section.
