well, to me these cells seem to be either reactive mesothelial cells or lung adenocarcinoma cells.... lung adenocarcinoma cells are notorious in mimicking reactive mesothelial cells...??? i would advice TTF-1 to differentiate between them...?? all the best.
Dear Irena, how are you? Me and Rúben have the same opinion than you. We made ICC in cytospins and only CD45 was positive for some cells. We are waiting for more sample to do a cell-block for ICC (caspase). Thanks for your help and this article. Warm regards, Carla
Hi Carla, you can also send us a cytospin for caspase staining, we already did a study on a cell line with apoptosis induction so we are sure that you can reliable detect apoptosis by caspase on methanol and PEG protected cytospins!
From their size and plasmazytoid Features, These cells have to be interpreted as plasma cells first. Since plasma cells do not express CD45, I advice to perform immunocytochemistry for CD138, CD45 as well as pancytokeratin.
Dear Irena, that's great! Thank you so much for your help, Ruben is on holidays but when he come back we'll talk to you about this :) Warm regards, Carla
