Although I am familiar with various vultures in more than one continent s, I am not aware of such configuration. However, I have noticed a similar configuration of mammalian carnivores/scavengers. Cheetah will only eat fresh carcasses, unlike other members of its guild. Vary interesting why and how.
Was this absence in syntopy with other large vultures? RHV is less dominant that Gyps at carcasses (Ferguson-Lees & Christie 2001) perhaps it is competitively excluded from older carcasses?
