You can choose from configuration parameters either variable-step and fixed-step solvers. For physical models, MathWorks recommends solvers, such as ode14x, ode23t, and ode15s. solvers require fewer time steps than mentioned before, such as ode45, ode113, and ode1.
Thanks, I meant within those different solvers, is there a definite rule which for example says one solver is more accurate than another solver (exactly say when the model includes time based switches)?
It's not as simple as 2+2=4. Researchers already working on MATLAB may give you a better idea regarding the choice of solver. Experience of your Supervisor would be best in choosing the type of solver as it will always vary from type of one simulation to another.
