yes. we can use NaCl but it has some limitation. we can use NaCl, KBr, KCl, CaF2, BaF2, KRS-5, CsI, ZnS, ZnSe, AgBr, SiO2, Ge and AgCl.. the idea of using the salts is the ionic salts are ir inactive.
KBr is optically transparent over the range of wavelengths typically used in an IR analysis. That means the only absorbance results from the analyte, not the carrier for the sample
Thanks Selvan and Parepalli, yes you are right. my question is we are using NaCl cells for liquids. why we are not using for pellet preparation is there any particular reason.
