Which version of HFSS is using right now? If it is 17.1/18.1/19.1 then go to the following steps.
Click on your design>right click>crate open region> ok
It will ask the material conductivity of the conductor. Then you will give its value like 5.8X10^7, and the value of frequency will mid-value of required bandwidth. Thanks, Anil
To be in the safe side, I always recommend lambda/2 spacing from all directions. Also, make sure you have applied the absorbing/radiation boundary conditions to that box.
Spacing the radiation boundary about a quarter of a wavelength (at least) is starting point but for higher accuracy, it is required to seed the boundary like a half of a wavelength (λ/2). As per my design experience, λ/4 is often not enough for good radiation boundary calculation, although it is advised in manuals.
depending on the operating frequency, generally, we are interested in far filed analysis, condition given in balanis books , you should select according to that.
radiation boundary is created so that far field information may be extracted from the structure. To obtain the best result, the air boundary might defined with a distance of (at least) lambda/4 from each side. I´ve used a bit more, like lambda/3 and obtained better results.
great to see your valuable reply dear Hernan Dellamaggiora. Thanks for sharing optimized radiation/ air box dimension. i am 100% sure that your answer will helps the researcher who needed....
I want to know from you have you worked on any microwave waveguide to microstrip transition or you know a person who worked on this topic. if yes please share me his/her details. so that i may get the benefit...... my personal mail is [email protected] share me your whatsapp/email id for future help..
