What I know about the definition of ''Robustness Property'' for a controller designed for a particular set of parameters of the system it can be said to be robust if it works well under high-gain feedback to reject the disturbance gained by the system and eliminate the effect the system parameter uncertainty. So, is there any relation between robustness of the controller and faster response time such as raise time maximum overshoot settling time etc..?

When facing a realistic control design problem, it is important to be mindful of the magnitude of the feedback gains. In mechatronic applications, gains that are too large amplify instrument noise (either circuit or quantization noise), drive the actuators with high rates causing them to saturate, and excite undesired oscillating modes with flexible structure.
To learn about the robustness properties, you are encouraged to study the concept of Uniform Ultimate Boundedness (UUB).

I asked this question because I facing the problem of overshoot with PD linear controller , actually it is stable controller but its a nosily and I failed to reduce the maximum overshoot and settling time, and I am thinking to apply adding integral controller, or sliding mode control to solve this issue, do you have any suggestion for that?

Yes i would like to control nonlinear plant (DC-DC Converter) through passivity based control , and as it is known its a linear controller "PD trype", the tuning of Kp and Kd is depend on damping injection resistances. but still this controller has long settling time with higher overshoot.

Robustness means when system properties remain constantly constant even when system parameters changes. For example. In the control of inverted pendulum, if the stability of the system remain even when parameters like mass of the Bob, length of the pendulum etc changes; Then we say the controller used is roburst.

In the 1st part of your Q&Ans part I think the meaning of Robust is clear to you. In the later part you have talked about transient response property of the controller. There is no direct relation between the property of robustness and the transient response property.
