As dispositional personality traits dominate several aspects of human behavior, do these traits hinder or facilitate victims’ expressing about their experiences with workplace bullying?
I would definitely say yes, one's personality trait plays a significant role in opening up with regard to their life experiences in general including bullying at work. Some readings on assertive, aggressive and passive would help as well. All the best.
It has been my experience as a counselor, team member, and supervisor that personality strongly influences conflict aversion which can exacerbate bullying. Our personality preferences and life histories shape how we perceive the intent of others and our options for response. If an individual is conflict averse, or doubts their ability to self-advocate and mange conflict, often situations can evolve into unhealthy patterns with some going as as far as bullying. Hope you find the resources you need!
Yes. Personlity is not a modifiable quality of an individual. It will affect all the domains of his/her behaviour. Assertiveness is a personality trait which may influence the willingness to open up to others.
