In what conditions evaporative index (ET/P) can be greater than one. Because in most of the studies I have seen that ET/P is found below the water limit line. Please suggest.

In arid climates, the evapotranspiration (EV) is greater than the pricipitation this is due to the high temperature with low pricipitation through all the year. According to Global FAO database, in some regions of Somalia, the Potential Evapotranspiration (PET) exceeds the pricipitation, so whenever the evapotranspiration is greater the pricipitation the evaporative index curve (EV/P) is greater than 1.
In multiple conditions! When ET/P>1 this means there is an excess water either:
Human reasons:
. ET may be overestimated due to inaccuracy.
Assuming values are accurate:
. Massive water amounts other than precipitation are introduced into the area from groundwater extraction, river, reservoirs etc.
Natural reasons:
.Water-limited regions were atmospheric demand is excessively high.
If calculating over a large-scale regions this amount may be significant.
