Hi all!

I'm using a system of solvent for TLC and lipids analysis (phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylcholine...).

It is composed of water:isooctane:ethyl acetate:acetic acid (50:10:60:15).

There is 2 phases that are forming when I mix the solvents together. The upper phase is organic if I understand well. What I don't understand is what is the composition of the different phases and how the solvents react to each other?

Thank you for your help and your time!
