I am on the quest to find a marker for glial cells in the insect nervous system. There are conflicting papers that say, no GFAP is not present in drosophila at least- and there are some that have used GFAP in drosophila.
However, I work with a novel organism (Acheta domesticus, House Cricket) and I can't find anything on Repo in any other insect besides drosophila for glial cell markers.
Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Griffin, there are indeed less antibodies which are suitable for insects. I found one monoclonal Anti- GFAP from OriGene Technologies (TA327938). May be it works. Run a positiv control and several different delutions of the primary antibody so that you can optimize the concentration depending of your used detection system. Posiv controls are importenant in this case to be sure that the reason for negativ results are not technical mistakes. Good luck!
