I am currently working on a research project which involves using TPP+ conjugated graphene quantum dots (TPP-GQDs) which should target graphene towards mitochondria. I am using primary mouse cortical neurons plated in a 96-well plate. I am trying to find out if there is a way to visualise the graphene localisation as it is now on mitochondria or do I have to conjugate it with another molecule to be able to do it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Dear Nikitas, You should take advantage of fluorescence microscopy so you can observe the GQDs position inside the living cell. Among the wide variety of FL microscopy techniques that provide different resolutions, I think Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) is the most suitable option for you. However, conventional epifluorescence microscopy with lower resolution might be useful as well.
