Hiba, yes I would enter a Mosque. I have entered many places. I have entered many churches. I did not change my Christian faith because I entered these places. You see Christ is in me, my body and I look for his help by the Holy Spirit that resides in my body. A church is just a building where people goes to worship God. I would not worship Allah in the Mosque I would worship Jesus who lives in me and will share with the Muslims the wonderful story of how love was shown to the whole world, by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God. If the Muslims will allow me to express myself in the Mosque this is what I will say. I hope they will respect the way I feel and believe and will not take my words as offensive. I would listen to them out of respect for them, but I may not follow the road they are traveling. My road is the truth and the life. Death is not on my road.

In the responses above, I see most people would enter either to attend a friend’s marriage or funeral. In that sense, one is honoring a friend’s faith and respecting the traditions of that faith.

I'm a Christian and I've been to a mosque 4-5 times over the years. One of the college classes I taught included visits to places of worship, and my students and I visited two different mosques over the course of 10 years. We were cordially received and learned a lot from the experiences. I would recommend that Muslims, if their faith leaders allow it, visit Christian churches to learn about the wide variety of Christian practices--Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, and others. As well as learning about religion, visiting places of worship other than your own helps you to learn about our shared humanity.

Any space on the surface of the earth where people consider sacred enough to worship God (no matter their religious affiliation), is sacred and God is there. As a Christian, I do not see anything wrong in entering a Mosque and not disrupting their religious rites since I believe that God is there.

Interesting question, although it addresses minorities either ways. The vast majority of people wether Muslims or Christians do rarely visit their respective temples, not to mention the lack of liturgical consciousness which is of course not dependent on walls nor letters but on the spirit and the ethos. The problem of non-religiousness emerges nowadays no less dangerously than religious syncretism. The inner temple is the most invaluable; not the outer. Salvation, whether you are a Christian or a Muslim, is located in the temple of the very human being. All the rest is auxiliary symbols instrumental to salvation and not means for mundane power. Personally, I am rather interested in what takes place inside a temple and not in the building itself.

a. I referred to people regularly (and consciously) visiting a temple, and not once in life. If you take the last case, then definitely the number of people is much higher, yet hardly up to 50%-50%.

b. Perhaps I was not very clear: what I refer to is the participation of people in the liturgic life, which implies the services. As I wrote in my answer, I am not that interested in the mere fact of people simply visiting a temple. So, my sentence needs a reformulation as to: the vast majority of people... rarely participate actively in the religious rituals of their religion. And therefore, the last part of your quote is evidently a necessary implication.

c. On the grounds of my comment a, if empirical evidence is qualified on the basis of the pair 'cause and effect' as well, then look at the world around. Isn't much of evil to be found in an allegedly largely religiously active humanity?

Dear John C Carr , your hardcore positivistic anticipation taken to its absolute would result to the request of providing clear empirical evidence on the very existence of God. And if I wished to adhere to your anticipation I would have to deny God’s existence so long respective surveys cannot be provided. But religion is not solely grounded on empirical positivism either, or am I wrong?

I guess the answer to my question is that you have no empirical evidence for your assertion - are simply making the assertion as your assessment and absolutizing your judgment. You may be right - but it is hardly appropriate to make that kind of claim in a milieu such as this one without citing an appropriate basis for the claim.

my answer is yes because i understand that the object of worship is one; the differences is in the understanding. besides, my presence in the church or mosque will be beneficial to friends who would tap from my wealth of my religious experience. my purpose is always to influence people; i belief we can influence each other. remember my being in the mosque does not change my faith in God neither will it change my religion

Yes. The reason is, they are both places of worship and unless i am prevented from entering, i will surely do. This is what you don't find in other religion i belong that is totally free without particularism.

Estimado Iba te contesto como católico, por supuesto que siempre que veo una mezquita o una sinagoga si puedo entro, disfruto del arte de las mismas y lo más importante le muestro respeto a Dios y lo saludo como me digan que esa religión lo hace. Para mi el Dios Padre católico es el mismo Alá. The Roman Catholic Church has recently stepped out and shown courageous respect when invited by the Pontiff to his mosque. Pope Francis prayed while in the mosque. This is a great step toward unity and friendship.

If Pope Francis is brave enough to believe that if he is invited no harm will come to him, then I believe if I am invited by the Pontiff to pray for him then no harm will come to me, and like the Pope I will be respected for doing this. I will never force myself upon anyone, however, if I am invited to come by the Pontiff, I may enter the mosque and pray while I am there.

I would enter a church if I have to attend a social event, or as a sightseeing.

Of course I am intersted in architecture of historical churches due to my major.
