The perspectives that you raise in your point 1 and 2 are very different. If you would face your task from point 1, you would have to focus on how globalization occurs. If on the other hand, you approach your task from perspective 2, you would focus on how people react to globalization. Third, The best book is Globalization: The Paradox of Organizational Behavior by Meshack M. Sagini. The first and last chapters are more relevant to your needs.
